DON’T STRESS ABOUT YOUR NEXT VISIT - WE OFFER SEDATION DENTISTRY

At the Claremont Dental Institute, we understand that some patients feel frightened in the dentist’s chair. That’s why we provide sleep dentistry that allows you to relax during dentist appointments.

Sedation dentistry (sometimes called sleep dentistry), provides safe, effective anesthesia for sensitive or nervous patients.

Dr. Patel is an expert in sleep dentistry. Patients from Claremont, Upland, La Verne, San Dimas, and surrounding areas trust him to provide quality dental care, specialized consultations, and sedation that calms their dental fears.

Is Sedation Dentistry Right For You?

It is so nice to finally have a dentist who, along with his staff, can take the pain away, make me fee comfortable and not charge me an arm and a leg doing so. Kudos to Claremont Dental Institute!

Our first priority is you! Perhaps you’ve had a traumatic experience with a previous dentist and feel anxious about returning. Or maybe you’re in pain and worry that a dental procedure will just make it worse. We promise you a dental experience that will help you feel comfortable and safe.

When you arrive for your appointment and request sedation dentistry, your expert dental staff will consult with you about your sedation needs. They’ll ask questions like:

  • Do you have sensitive teeth?
  • Do you have a high gag reflex?
  • Would you like local anesthetic in the part of your mouth where the dentist will work?
  • Would you prefer anesthetic?
  • Would you like to remain conscious, or would you prefer to fall asleep?

We will also review your medical history and ask about allergies and current medications. This individual consultation with one of our staff will help us give you the individual care you need.

Methods available for sleep dentistry include:

  • Nitrous oxide. A safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.  Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option your dentist may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have.

  • Oral sedation. This inexpensive option involves a deeper state of relaxation than nitrous oxide and is considered a safe method of relaxation during your appointment. Our team takes and monitors your vital signs throughout the procedure ensuring your safety.

  • IV sedation. You receive the sedative drug through a vein, so it goes to work more quickly. This method allows the dentist to continually adjust the level of sedation.  This process involved being completely “out” while being monitored by professional dental anesthesiologists.
